Kick Start Your Garden!

Hello my wonderful readers! Today I’m coming at you with some great need to know information!! As it is mid winter a lot of us are starting to prepare for the warmer months ahead.

In doing so now is a good time to start sowing your seeds indoors to get them ready to be planted outside. I’ve come across a lot of different charts, diagrams, and books telling me how and when to plant seeds indoors to jump start the season, or when to just plant them in the ground. Usually, I myself, go by intuition and knowledge because I have been planting gardens since I was little with my family. But, there is always more to learn and personally I would rather make the right choices instead of mess up and have to start all over!

I am currently working on my own home made spread sheet of when plants should be started, how to germinate, and different types i.e.; herbs, flowers, and vegetables. Which once I get done I will share with you all. (Hopefully in the next coming week.) Until then I will share with you a few different diagrams that I am finding extremely helpful and quite simple to follow so it makes even the newest person entering gardening have no troubles. I will also give you some of my input on the diagrams and if I would change anything about them.

This is pretty much the most standard chart I have been able to find. However, when it implies that it is suitable to plant Indoors or under glass nobody has time to build their own greenhouse or maybe do not have enough money for that kind of thing. If you fall under that category you can really leave them in a window sill where they get a lot of light to germinate, also you can use a plastic box greenhouse which is very cheap at your local gardening store. I have found these quite useful!

This diagram is for when to plant flowers. Now, I myself, have had a hard time following this diagram but maybe you guys will have an easier time.. I have never been a circle diagram lover. Haha. This diagram is going to give you an idea of when to plant your flowers. I know they do not have all the flowers on this diagram and I will soon be coming out with my own with a tad bit more information but for now this is just something to get you all started on and thinking about the warmer months to come.

I hope you all found this helpful and learned something new. Have a go at it and give me your feedback! :)
